ROCKIT APPLIANCES REPAIR · IN-HOME SERVICE
Oven Not Heating
If the oven does not heat, start by noticing whether the broiler works, whether a gas igniter glows and whether the display shows an error. That usually narrows the problem to one or two parts.
Safe checks before scheduling service
A symptom by itself does not identify the failed part. These simple checks may solve the problem or help you describe what is happening.
- Make sure the oven is set to bake and not locked, in a timed-cook mode or in Sabbath mode.
- Look for an error code on the display.
- Check that the breaker is on; electric ranges use a double breaker.
Common causes
These are the causes we find most often. Only an in-home diagnosis can confirm which one applies to your appliance.
Bake or broil element (electric ovens)
A failed element may look blistered, broken or burned through, but elements can also fail without visible damage.
Weak igniter (gas ovens)
A gas oven igniter can glow but still not draw enough current to open the gas safety valve. This is one of the most common gas oven repairs.
Oven temperature sensor
A faulty sensor can make the control think the oven is already hot, or show an error and stop heating.
Control board relay
If the control does not send power to the element or igniter, the oven will not heat even with good parts.
Thermal fuse or wiring
Some ovens have a thermal fuse that cuts power after overheating, often after a self-clean cycle.
Important safety note
If you smell gas, leave the area and contact PG&E or emergency services. Do not operate a gas oven you suspect is faulty.

Frequently asked questions
My oven stopped working after a self-clean cycle. Why?
Self-clean runs at very high temperatures and can cause a thermal fuse, control board or door lock to fail. It is a common reason ovens stop heating.
The igniter glows but my gas oven will not light. What is wrong?
A glowing igniter can still be too weak to open the gas valve. Replacing the igniter fixes this in most cases.
What is your diagnostic fee?
The diagnostic/service call is $45 and is waived when you approve the repair.
Does the online estimate include parts?
No. The $160–$220 range is an initial labor estimate only. Replacement parts, if required, are quoted separately before the repair.
