Dishwasher Leaking
Water in front of the dishwasher usually points to the door or to suds, while water under the cabinet or coming out from under the dishwasher usually points to a hose, valve or pump seal.
Safe checks before scheduling service
A symptom by itself does not identify the failed part. These simple checks may solve the problem or help you describe what is happening.
- Check the door gasket for food debris, tears or gaps.
- Make sure you are using detergent made for automatic dishwashers; dish soap makes suds that push water out of the door.
- Look for drips at the hose connections under the sink.
Common causes
These are the causes we find most often. Only an in-home diagnosis can confirm which one applies to your appliance.
Worn or dirty door gasket
A gasket that is torn, flattened or caked with debris lets water escape at the bottom of the door.
Inlet valve or supply line leak
The water inlet valve behind the lower kick panel can crack or leak at its fittings.
Pump or sump seal leak
Seals around the wash and drain pumps wear over time and can leak under the dishwasher, often unseen until the floor is damaged.
Overfill or float problem
If the float or float switch sticks, the dishwasher can overfill and spill water from the door.
Dishwasher not level
An unlevel dishwasher can let water run toward the door and leak at the bottom corner.
Important safety note
Stop running the dishwasher until the leak is repaired to prevent cabinet and floor damage. Some Bosch dishwashers show an E15 error when water reaches the base pan; do not ignore it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a leaking dishwasher until the repair?
It is best not to. Even small leaks can damage the subfloor and cabinets over time.
What does a Bosch E15 error mean?
E15 means water has collected in the base pan and tripped the leak-protection float. The cause needs to be found and fixed; simply drying the pan only resets the error temporarily.
What is your diagnostic fee?
The diagnostic/service call is $45 and is waived when you approve the repair.
Does the online estimate include parts?
No. The $160–$220 range is an initial labor estimate only. Replacement parts, if required, are quoted separately before the repair.
